Recently, the great VW Camper & Commercial Magazine was privileged to be taken round VW's California and Beach assembly plant at Limmer in Hannover. The factory is not open to the public, so this is a rare insight into what goes on!

The first generation of Volkswagen vans were built from March 1950 to late 1967. The most characteristic feature of this model was its front windscreen split into two parts. Its production began in the Wolfsburg before moving to a new factory in Hannover, specially designed for the production of these vans in 1956.
On late 1967, began to manufacture the second generation of the van, Volkswagen T2. It was built in Germany until 1979. Models before 1971 are known as T2a or "Early Bay, while models after 1972 are known as T2b or" Late Bay".
Here we present a video of two real Volkswagen T1 Camper gems. A Panel Van from 1952 with an interior Westfalia Camping Box, and a 1967 Split Screen with original finish Westfalia.

The T3 was the third generation of Volkswagen vans. Was generally known in Europe as Transporter or Caravelle, in the United Kingdom and Ireland as the T25 and in the U.S. as Vanagon. It was built from May 1979 until July 1992 and was the last of the rear-engine Volkswagen vans. Compared to its predecessor, the T2, the T3 was larger and heavier, with a new design of square corners that replaced the rounded edges of the older models.
